Hi Ive got a GPS etrex system and im trying to get maps from my PC to my etrex but it is not working. We dont know why this is happening! If you know why this is happening please answer our question, or if you know how we can get this to work. We know that it is not the USB cable as it is brand knew!! Regards
A new cable can be bad...been there, done that.
Is the MapSource program recognizing the GPS when it tries to connect? I have forgotton to turn the GPS on soon enough and had to start the transfer over because it didn't find it soon enough.
Are you using the MapSource (from Garmin) program? That is the only one that can load maps into the GPS. Other software can load/get waypoints, tracks, and routes but not send maps.
The more information that you can give us about exactly what is and is not happening, the more likely we are to be able to help you.

Finder Golf Why are golf range finders so much cheaper then hunting range finders?
All I would need is something that tells me how far away something is that I would want to shoot. No More than 500 yards. Would a golfing range finder work?
The cheap Golf range finders use a flag or scale you measure to a flag and are no good at all. The laser range finders for golf are about the same price. Bushnell has about the best value out there in range finders. If you want to range a deer at 500 Yds get a 1000 yard or more range finder. The manufacture usually will tell you what range you can read a deer at but most over estimate. I think you would be well advised to get the longest distance range finder on the market if you want to range a deer at 500, and you may still have to pick a near by tree and guesstimate the difference.
